Vejer de la Frontera

The ideal year-round holiday destination.

The finest example of an Andalusian ‘Pueblo Blanco,’ Vejer de la Frontera has been voted one of the top ten most beautiful towns in Spain by TripAdvisor, Planet Ware, It's Not About the Miles, Fascinating Spain, The Daily Mail, The Guardian, and The Spanish Tourist Board. It is nothing less than glorious—but come and make up your own mind.

Over five centuries of Moorish occupation have endowed the town with a whitewashed tangle of cobbled alleys, arched passageways, hidden patios bursting with flowers, and flat-roofed houses, which makes it a joy to stroll around. Throw in a mix of eye-catching shops and wonderful restaurants, picturesque views at every turn and the fact that you’re only 15-minutes from the pristine sands of Costa de la Luz, and you have the perfect setting for a magical getaway.

 â€‹

Nestled on a hill 200m above sea level, Vejer de la Frontera is blessed with incredible views in every direction. Sit sipping cocktails in El Poniente as you look out over the box pine forests of Las Breñas natural park and fields of sunflowers to the clear Atlantic waters and the unspoilt beaches of El Palmar, Trafalgar and Los Caños de Meca and the next Pueblo Blanco, Conil.

Allow yourself to become lost in the romance and history of Vejer de la Frontera. Be wowed by the 10th-century Moorish castle, the Arch of Segur; the Judería (old Jewish quarter); and the Plaza de España with its wonderful fountain.

After you finish exploring, be sure to stop at one of the many excellent restaurants and cafés serving gorgeous, locally sourced, traditional dishes, or maybe even sushi at San Francisco Gastronomic Market. There is plenty to sample in this ‘foodies’ heaven’—have a look at Vejer Casas' Restaurant Page for some inspiration.
